Israel Support
Conrad Nadell, Chair
The Israel Support Committee of CBI recognizes that our future is forever
linked to that of our brothers and sisters in Eretz Yisrael who continue
to struggle daily with the brutal reality of terrorism.
We further recognize that our community is looking for ways to actively support the people of Israel.
The mission of this committee is to provide hands-on opportunities for
adults and children to help the men, women, and children of Israel,
emphasizing social action projects over fund-raising.

Congregation
Beth Israel Foundation
Ann Beckerman , Chair
In March 1973, Temple Beth El of Plainfield
established a Foundation for congregants to contribute to the Jewish education
and experiences of their children and at the same time to honor special events
in the lives of friends and relatives. In 1994, when Temple Beth El and Temple Israel
merged, the foundation was reorganized as
the Congregation Beth Israel Foundation Committee. The Foundation's
mission was broadly defined as encouraging children to participate in
programs that would enhance their Jewish identity. The only obligation of
grant recipients is to share their experiences in writing. In past years the Foundation has made
grants for such activities as the Kean College Jewish history course, Jewish summer camps and programs in Israel.
Contributions to the Foundation Committee are
forever. They increase our investments from which the earned income is available
for grants. It enables our children to have experiences that in many cases
are life altering events. To parents, grandparents and friends, give the
gift that keeps on giving. Make a contribution to the Congregation Beth
Israel Foundation Committee. Checks can be sent to the Foundation
Committee at the Temple.
Contributions are immediately acknowledged to those you choose to honor.
Children of congregants up to 25 years of age
are eligible to receive grants for approved programs to enhance their Jewish
identities. Grants are provided without regard to financial need. Programs range from summer camps in the US, Jewish college courses,
USY on Wheels travel to west coast, travel to and programs in Israel. Grants can
be up to $1000. The committee is accepting applications now for 2007 summer
programs. Applications are outside the Temple office and deadline dates are October 31st and
February 28th.
