Chinese Language Ministry


The Chinese Language Ministry (CLM) is an outreach ministry of our church. The Chinese Language Ministry activities are conducted at First United Methodist Church facilities.

        Thursdays at 7:30 PM
        Chinese Bible study, conducted in Mandarin, is led by Robert Lim.

         Sundays at 2:00 PM
         English as a Second Language (ESL) classes are taught, from September to June,
         to assist new immigrants to learn the English Language.

         Sundays at 3:00 PM
         Chinese Language Worship service is conducted in Mandarin with English translation.
         A Fellowship hour follows the worship service.

Cub Scout Pack 98
First United Methodist Church hosts Cub Scout Pack 98. www.cubpack98.com Several of the dens from Pack 98 meet and conduct activities at FUMC.

Faith Players

The Faith Players announce 2009 production of:

TRUNK TREASURES….at First United Methodist Church of Scotch Plains. We are excited to offer an opportunity for you to sell some unwanted items (e.g. treasures) while helping to support the Church ministries! When: June 6th, 9AM - 2 PM. (rain or shine) Where: Church Parking Lot. Donation. $15 for the spot or we would welcome the proceeds from your sale! You will have a parking space in the church lot.  You can sell from your car trunk or bring a table to showcase your treasures. All proceeds will go to support the ministries of our church.  This should be a great time of fellowship and fundraising.  Encourage friends and neighbors to get a table too!  June 6th is the date of the town-wide Scotch Plains Garage Sale Day so there will be plenty of publicity and treasure hunters!  Thanks for your support! Homeless Hospitality Ministry

Home First (homefirstinc.org) offers housing to homeless families in Union County until they can regain their independence.  Families are housed at Union County Churches.  Meals and overnight hospitality are provided by First United Methodist Church of Scotch Plains and a network of other churches in the Scotch Plains/Fanwood/Plainfield area.

 

Feeding The Hungry
Nonperishable food items are collected each month and are donated to the Scotch Plains food pantry.

Members of FUMC assist with the Free Meals program hosted at the Covenant UMC, 631 E. Front St. Plainfield, NJ. (908-756-2684) Individuals in need from the Plainfield community benefit from this program.
